What is TikTok Now?
TikTok Now invites you and your friends to capture what you're doing in the moment using your device's front and back camera. You'll receive a daily prompt at the same time as your friends to capture a 10-second video or a static photo and share it with your friends.
TikTok Now is available in the TikTok Now app from the App Store or Google Play in select regions. Your TikTok account is linked with the TikTok Now app so that you can stay logged in and navigate between the two apps, using the same personal information you provided when creating an account. You don't have to download the TikTok app in addition to the TikTok Now app, but you must create a TikTok account.
A few things to know about TikTok Now:
• Now posts are typically only visible to you for a limited period of time and only after you post your own Now for that day.
• You must be at least 13 years of age (or 14 in Indonesia, Quebec, and South Korea) to use TikTok Now.
• Users aged 18 years and older can post within a 3-minute window on a timer. Users aged 13 to 17 years will not need to capture a photo or video on a timer.
How to log in or sign up to TikTok Now
To log in or sign up to the TikTok Now app:
1. Download TikTok Now from Google Play or the App Store.
2. Open the app. From here, you can:
༚ Create a TikTok account, which you can use for both TikTok and TikTok Now. Tap Log in or sign up and follow the instructions provided to create a TikTok account.
༚ Log in using your existing TikTok account.
༚ Log in through a third party platform, such as Google or Facebook. You'll still need a TikTok account if you choose this method.
How to post a Now
To post a Now:
1. In the TikTok Now app, tap the prompt in the Friends feed or tap the daily Now push notification.
2. Take a photo or video.
༚ If it's your first time using the camera, you'll be prompted to give access to the camera and microphone.
༚ You'll have 3 minutes (if aged 18 and older) to capture a photo or video using the front-facing and back-facing cameras.
3. Review the photo or video. You can choose to delete and retake it. The 3-minute countdown will continue during this period.
4. Tap the Post button.
Your Now will appear in the Friends feed in the TikTok Now app and your friends will be notified. You can also post multiple Now posts in a day.
Keep in mind:
• Both the front and back-facing cameras are being used when you take a Now. When you capture a photo or video, be mindful of those around you and your location as you should avoid posting content in sensitive locations and places where people would expect privacy.
• You should only post content that follows our Community Guidelines to help foster a welcoming, safe, and entertaining experience on TikTok.
Where to find Now posts
You can view Now posts in the following areas:
• Friends feed: Now posts from your mutual friends and other suggested accounts from the TikTok community appear here.• Explore feed: Public Now posts from TikTok creators (aged 18 and older) in your region appear here.
• Memories: Displays all your Now posts.
How to manage who can view your Now
To change who can view your Now:
1. Before you post, tap the Privacy settings button at the bottom of your photo or video.
2. Choose who you'd like to allow to view your Now.
༚ Everyone (only for public accounts): Anyone in your region can view your Now.
༚ Followers (only for private accounts): Anyone who follows you can view your Now.
༚ Friends: Anyone who follows you and you follow back can view your Now.
When choosing a privacy setting, you should also consider the contents of your Now and avoid posting content in sensitive locations and places where people would expect privacy.
How to delete a Now
To delete your Now:
1. In the TikTok Now app, tap your profile photo at the bottom.
2. Go to the Now you'd like to delete.
3. Tap the More options ... button or the Share button, then tap Delete.
4. Tap Delete to confirm.
How to find more friends on TikTok Now
You may want to find more friends with similar interests and invite others to join TikTok Now. Depending on the information you choose to share with TikTok, we may show a suggested account to you because the account belongs to someone whose phone number is in your phone contacts or someone you're friends with on Facebook, and you and the other person have chosen to turn on the Sync contacts and Facebook friends setting.
To connect with more friends in the TikTok Now app:
1. Tap your profile photo at the bottom of the screen.
2. Tap the Settings button at the top.
3. Tap Privacy, then tap Sync contacts and Facebook friends. From here, you can:
༚ Turn the Sync contacts or Sync Facebook friends list settings on or off to change how accounts are suggested to you.
༚ Tap the Add friends button at the bottom of the screen and choose a method to connect with friends.
Keep in mind that if you remove TikTok's access to your phone contacts in your device settings, we'll no longer sync contacts, though we'll continue to suggest accounts to you from your previously synced contacts. If you wish to remove all your phone contacts that were synced to TikTok and stop syncing contacts on all devices, you can Remove previously synced contacts from the Sync contacts and Facebook friends settings.
How to turn TikTok Now notifications on or off
To manage TikTok Now notifications:
1. In the TikTok Now app, tap your profile photo at the bottom.
2. Tap the Settings button at the top.
3. Tap Push notifications. You'll be directed to your device settings.
4. Turn notifications on or off.
